1 day agoA wildfire in Bastrop County Texas has grown significantly in just a day. Tuesday is likely linked to the Bastrop fire that has resulted in local road closures and the evacuation of more than 250 families in Bastrop County as of Wednesday morning. Three separate fires started on September 4 2011 as a result of strong winds caused by nearby Tropical Storm Lee and merged into one large blaze that burned east of the city of Bastrop.
Very dry and ready to burn. The fire which grew quickly in Tuesdays windy conditions has burned. I go through a lot of firewood every year about 2 cords.
The Bastrop County Complex fire was the most destructive wildfire in Texas history striking areas of Bastrop County in September and October 2011. A 150-acre prescribed burn in Bastrop County State Park initiated by the Texas parks department at 1030 am. I tried 3 different vendors this year and Bastrop firewood was by far my favorite.
The rest of our firefighters are volunteers committed to excellence professionalism and service to our customers and the communities where we live. It burned through around 34000 acres and destroyed approximately 1700 homes and businesses.
